Reap what you sow for success.
Better late than never, or perhaps practicing imperfect progress (again)—I’ve finally managed to make this month’s post! Spring break took me on a glorious bucket-list adventure to South Africa, traveling many miles on a long-overdue pilgrimage to visit old friends, living each colorful moment to its fullest, and doing a digital detox of sorts. Feeling like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, I’ve returned full of renewed energy and a deeper appreciation for Hatteras Island’s soothing and slower pace of life.
Like spring, now is a great time to plant some mental seeds, get my hands dirty, and bring a few dormant ideas to life. Maybe it’s getting creative and learning a new skill, running a 5K race for the first time, dropping into a wellness class and connecting with a community, ironing out a few kinks with a therapeutic massage, making healthy lifestyle choices and feeling confident for the summer and a beach vacation, or committing to laughing more and just letting go. A growth mindset takes time to cultivate, but know that eventually you will reap the rewards of what you sow.
Taking a break also allows you to review your wellbeing and focus on what is really important to you. Give yourself this precious time and step away from your day-to-day by taking 5 minutes to simply let your mind wander. You may be surprised where you’ll end up on your own private mind-expanding adventure!
Exhaling in readiness for all this coming season will bring, my hopes are set on finding balance and living well, creating rewarding experiences, being a mindful traveler, and not forgetting to breathe! Whether you live on the island or are planning a vacation here this summer, Hatteras Island truly is a very special place!
