Mexico For Elevated Classics
Mexico is a spring break staple, but there’s more to the story than just Cancún. For 2026, I’m seeing increased demand in elevated all‑inclusives and quieter, luxury options. Some Cabo and Riviera Maya resorts are leaning into wellness, design, and creative menus, attracting friend groups and families who want fun in the sun without the college chaos.
Just opened: Park Hyatt Cabo Del Sol opened in December in the exclusive Cabo del Sol community on the Baja California Sur coast. You’ll like that it’s close to downtown Cabo San Lucas yet still feels exclusive and private.
Elevated all-inclusive: Grand Velas Riviera Maya is my pick for families: upscale dining options, expansive oceanfront suites, world-class wellness, kids’ and teens’ clubs, and plenty of activities.

The Caribbean For Boutique Stays
In the Caribbean, demand is surging for design‑forward hotels that feel more like boutique hideaways than mega‑complexes. Several islands have welcomed new or renovated beachfront properties.
Just opened: Chic and intimate, Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa on South Caicos Island in Turks & Caicos had its grand opening in March. Choose this spot for an unplugged getaway surrounded by gorgeous beachfront views and low-key luxury.
Reopening: After the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica is back. Much of the island’s tourism infrastructure is built to recover quickly, enabling many beloved hotels to reopen in time for spring break—the perfect opportunity to support the community while still enjoying vacation. Plus, travelers will find fewer crowds and added flexibility. One favorite spot is Eclipse at Half Moon.

Europe For Family-Friendly City Adventures
City spring breaks are trending as more travelers realize the shoulder season is actually the sweet spot for European trips. You’ll get fewer crowds and better hotel value than in summer.
Cities like London, Paris, and Rome make three- to five-night European escapes a realistic option for families, especially those with kids who would like to see the history, art, and culture they’re learning in school come to life. For my Francophiles, be aware that Paris Fashion Week is March 2–10 this year, so the city will be busy.

The American West For Spring Skiing
Spring break ski trips are all about snow‑sure mountains, lively but family‑friendly base villages, and plenty of non‑ski options for mixed‑ability groups. Late‑season conditions favor high elevation or Western resorts that typically hold snow well into April. And with the winter Olympics crowding the Alps, we’re staying away from European ski resorts this season.
- Breckenridge: Great spring skiing, historic downtown, and many ski‑in/out condo‑style hotels like Gravity Haus.
- Beaver Creek: Polished service with slopeside options like Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and Beaver Creek Lodge, plus daily village activities for kids.
- Park City: Charming downtown with easy access from Salt Lake City. Stay at Goldener Hirsch, or opt for budget-friendly Marriott’s Summit Watch.

Wine Country & Coastal Chic For Design-Forward Escapes
Within the U.S., there is a continued rise of resort‑style domestic travel. Think desert spas, coastal design hotels, walkable neighborhoods, and of course a smattering of traditional party strips.
Just opened: I’ve been getting great feedback on new Florida arrivals Andaz Miami Beach and Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort.
Ranch vibes: Alisal Ranch spans 10,500 acres in Santa Barbara wine country. With more than 50 miles of horseback riding trails, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a spa and fitness center, and more, groups who care more about pools, restaurants, and golf or hiking than nightlife will like it here.
